Unlimited Pre-Dinner Snacks

Yup, you heard right, unlimited snacks.

The hour before dinner is notorious for a I’m-dying-of-hunger request for a snack and to avoid a melt down it’s usually easier just to give in. Pretzels, crackers or a granola bar and then boom, they don’t eat at bite of dinner. As some one who spends time cooking dinner this is infuriating.

Offer your kiddos an “unlimited” plate. Literally unlimited, I truly don’t care if they eat the whole plate. Pile a plate high with mostly raw veggies (you can add a little fruit but some fruit can be really filling) and they can eat as much as they want. I also put out olives or pickled veggies like picked string beans or beets. Sometimes I serve it with ranch, sometimes I don’t.

The hunger cravings are dulled, they ate their veggies, and you got a few minutes of peace and quiet (hopefully).
